Red Fox
Vulpes vulpes
When mousing, the fox locates its prey under grass or snow by ear and then leaps in a high arc to pin it down with its forepaws. The white tail tip is visible on most individuals.

- Almost everywhere: woodland, farmland, coasts and increasingly villages and large cities.

- Omnivore focusing on voles and mice, plus rabbits, birds, insects, earthworms, fruit, carrion and scraps.

- Mainly crepuscular and nocturnal, but also active by day where undisturbed. The mating season is in January and February; cubs are born in March and April.
