Parus major
The black stripe down the yellow breast is broader in males, reaching between the legs, and narrower in females. The great tit has a remarkably varied vocal repertoire, best known for its ringing “teacher-teacher” song.

- When to see
- Mainly resident; can be seen all year round, though some young birds move south in autumn.
